Dealing with a world in crisis – Women in film
We are in the middle of an international crisis, with growing racism and homophobia. People of color (POC), and queer people of color (QPOC), are the marginalized groups targeted the most harshly. Can we contribute in this global conversation? What are our responsibilities as citizens of the world, artists, filmmakers and activists? Why does this conversation matter in the Faroe Islands?
We are proud to present a panel with four strong women in film. They are all cultural activists, here to give their perspective on the subject with the moderator, Heini í Skorini. We have Gia Marie Love (KIKI), a speaker and community activist in New York; Jennifer Reeder (Signature Move & Crystal Lake), a filmmaker/director in Chicago; Fawzia Mirza (Signature Move, The streets are ours), an actor/filmmaker/writer in Chicago; and last, but not least, Gizem Bayiksel (Child’s Play, Jury), a filmmaker and a coordinator for Pembe Hayat, the only queer film festival in Turkey.
